TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Mutual contract termination

Houston Dynamo FC have mutually agreed to terminate Erik Sviatchenko's contract as the defender signs with Thai top-flight side Port FC, the club announced Tuesday.

Sviatchenko departs after spending parts of four seasons with Houston, having originally joined from Danish powerhouse FC Midtjylland in March 2023.

The 34-year-old former Danish international made 96 appearances across all competitions for the Dynamo, contributing 4g/3a. This season, he made 10 league appearances and scored one goal.

“We want to thank Erik for his contributions to the club on and off the field during his time in Houston,” said president of soccer Pat Onstad. “He played a key role in the team winning the US Open Cup in 2023 and setting a club points record in 2024.

"Erik approached us this summer and requested to pursue a new challenge outside of MLS. While the timing of his departure is not the most advantageous for the club, we appreciated his tenure here, and we are supportive of his next competitive endeavor in Thailand.”

Before arriving in MLS, Sviatchenko enjoyed decorated spells with Midtjylland and Scottish giant Celtic, winning multiple domestic trophies with both clubs.

Houston enter the stretch run of the 2026 season sitting second in the Western Conference with 39 points through 22 matches (12W-7L-3D).
