TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

D.C. United have acquired forward Jovanny Bolivar from Deportivo La Guaira on loan with a purchase option, the club announced Tuesday.

Bolivar, 19, made his professional debut at 17-years-old with Guaira and has four goals in 28 appearances across all competitions. The striker has featured with the Venezuelan youth national teams.

“Jovanny is a young and talented forward who we believe has the tools to succeed in MLS,” GM & VP of soccer operations Dave Kasper said in a club statement. “At 19-years-old, he already has professional experience in the Venezuelan first division and has also represented the Venezuelan Youth National Team. This is a move that shows our continued commitment to bringing in young players with a high ceiling for success. We’re excited to add him to the roster ahead of the 2021 MLS season.”

Bolivar adds to attacking options for new head coach Hernan Losada, alongside the likes of Ola Kamara, Yordy Reyna, Erik Sorga and more. It's been a busy start to the week for United, having signed No. 4 overall SuperDraft pick forward Kimarni Smith on Monday, as well as defender Brendan Hines-Ike.
