TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Chicago Fire FC have acquired defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen from German Bundesliga side Mainz 05, the club announced Tuesday.
The 29-year-old Norwegian international is under contract through the 2030-31 MLS season.
Hanche-Olsen brings a decade of European experience across Stabæk (Norway), Gent (Belgium) and Mainz (Germany). He's accumulated 12 goals and 10 assists in 311 matches.
Internationally, Hanche-Olsen has provided two assists in 22 caps with Norway since debuting in 2021.
"Andreas brings extensive experience at both the international level and across European competitions, including several seasons in a top-five league," said Chicago director of football and head coach Gregg Berhalter.
"Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated the leadership, professionalism and competitive mentality that are important to building a successful team. We believe those qualities, combined with his experience on the field, will make him a valuable addition to our group."
The Fire are third in the Eastern Conference (37 points) and on track for a second-straight Audi MLS Cup Playoffs trip.
